When it comes to installing cabinet door handles either knobs or pulls they are always placed on the opposite side from the door hinges.
Placement of pantry door handles.
Using the horizontal rail of the door frame place your screw hole or orient the bottom end of the handle.
Divide the drawer in half centre a pull in each half and it will be perfectly balanced.
Then center it horizontally on the door frame.
You ll specifically want to place them anywhere between 1 and 4 from the top or bottom edge of the door.
The bevel allows for the edge of the door to clear the jamb when the door is operated.
The alternative to centering your hardware is to place it on the upper frame piece or on a slab drawer in the upper quarter of the drawer.
Divide the drawer in half and center a pull in each half and it will be perfectly balanced.
This lacks the balanced symmetry some people desire in their home but it does put the handles in the most convenient place for reaching.
For example if your drawers are 36 inches wide half of 36 is 18 half of 18 is 9.
It s a shallow bevel and you might not be able to see it so use the try square to be sure.
Place the bottom hardware hole 2 1 2 to 3 from the bottom of the door front.
Consider 2 knobs for drawers that are 24 inches or wider.
For example if your drawers are 92 centimetres wide half of 92 is 46 half of 46 is 23.
My cabinet maker recommended that we put the door knob at the same height as regular indoor doors 36 as that is what would feel natural.
In shaker style cabinets note that you may place a knob within or outside the frame.
I ll admit it doesn t look as clean as beekeeperswive s gorgeous cabinets but we do generally use the pulls to open the door.
On doors these pulls are typically installed with an upright vertical orientation.
Knobs should be centered horizontally on the door stile on the side opposite the hinge this goes for both upper and lower cabinetry.
When installing them divide the width of the drawer frame into thirds and then place each knob to the left and right marks.
Center the hardware horizontally on the stile between 2 and 4 inches down from the top edge.
The main difference is you ll place them near the top of the door on the stile so you can reach them without bending over too far.
Line the top edge of the hardware with the bottom edge of the top rail or center it on the frame.
Place a try square along the side of the door.
Therefore each pull is centered 9 inches from the left and right edge of the drawer front.
If the door has a 2 to 3 degree bevel on one side the doorknob must be placed on that side.
