In the funniest of scenarios the problem will simply be due to an unplugged power cord.
Shut off the power to the garage door opener.
If it is working properly your door should close or open without any problems.
Do not attempt this if the door is wide open.
If it is still not working recheck the connection at the top.
Turn the power back on and the door should open and close normally.
Now if your garage door stops opening up before it gets to 5 feet you ll need to adjust the open or up force nob.
In order to fix this you ll want to make small changes to the close limit setting until the door opener knows to stop once the door has reached the floor.
When the door is lowered the spring winds up tightly creating a pulling force that helps lift the door up.
Make sure it is hanging down from the motor.
Use a screwdriver to tighten the wire.
Check the door s electric eye.
The antenna on the motor could be damaged or blocked from the signal.
It will come crashing down and could cause some damage.
If it doesn t budge then try pulling on the red cord again.
When your garage door won t open with the remote there are few things that can cause this problem.
Pull the emergency release cord.
If you get it open then you will have to prop it up with something since it is now released and won t stay up on its own.

If the door opens with the wall switch a simple battery change in the remote should do the trick.
You may want to pull the cord the other way to see if that works.
Try to lift the door with both hands.
