One aspect of interior replacement that is a major source of annoyance is the door panel.
Leave at least two inches of extra material all the way around the edges.
2 lay your door panel foam side down on the back of the vinyl.

If the hole is too big the escutcheon cover plate might not cover the hole.
You don t need to remove the old adhesive from behind the material.
Pull the old material off of the door panel and inserts that will be reupholstered.
This allows for room to stretch the vinyl and adhere it to the back of the panel.
A slot is better than a hole.
Now feel for or observe where the door handles protrudes against the material.
3 loosely trace around the panel leaving a 2 3 inch gap around the entire panel.

Carefully cut a slot for it.
Lay the new material over the panel and inserts and use scissors to cut it to fit.
Temporarily mount the panel to the door by pushing two or three of the plastic retainers part way into their holes.
